SUIT-KOTE ARENA

GENERAL ICE RINK INFORMATION

Suit-Kote Arena houses a NHL size ice surface (200' x 85')

Seating capacity is 850 in the bleachers with more seating available for special events.

Home of the Cortland County Youth Hockey Association, Cortland Figure Skating Club, and the Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles High School Hockey Team.

This is how ice is made! The following photos show the different
stages in the ice making process.

Step 1:
When the temperature of the concrete slab is below freezing, water is applied to create a thin layer of ice so the white wash can be applied next.

Step 2:
A layer about 1/8" thick of ice is applied to the entire surface. When the concrete slab temperature reaches below 20 degrees, painting can begin.
Step 3:
The entire surface of the ice is painted white. As you know, ice is clear by nature.  Once the whitewash is applied and dry, the lines and face off circles are painted by expert installation specialists. Featuring NE Rink Painters.
Step 4:
Mesh Logos are applied.  Our ice has 4 mesh logos representing our local home organizations (Golden Eagles, Cortland Flames, Cortland Figure Skating Club) and our rink sponsor (Suit-Kote). The logos are laid down carefully and sprayed with a fine mist of water to melt them into the ice.
Step 5:
Center Ice Logo - The J.M. McDonald Logo is painted at center ice by using a stencil and hand painting the design.
